Student Matinees

A field trip they won't forget...

The following Olney Theatre Center productions include 10:15 am performances in their schedule to accommodate school groups. In addition to the performance, there will be a 25 - 30 minute post show discussion with the cast and crew. These events are restricted to school groups of 10 or more students. Tickets are available on a sliding scale (see sidebar) with prices ranging from $5 for Title I schools to a maximum of $20 per student. We are committed to making our performances accessible to as many students as possible, so please do not assume your school cannot afford to come to the theatre.

Reservations requests for Student Matinee performances in 2026-2027 will open in August. See our reservation policies below in preparation for the upcoming school year.

To make a reservation, please fill out the School Engagement Form online. This will help us gather preliminary information and determine whether we have enough seats available for the performance. For more information about each show, click on the titles below. One of our staff members will then contact you about your reservation request. For specific questions about the content in each production, view our Content Guidance. Please note that this pricing is only available for scheduled student matinees. For all other performances, normal group pricing and procedures will apply. 

*A school group constitutes a minimum of 10 students and 1 adult charperone. 

Reservation Policies

Reservations are not confirmed for your school until we receive a 50% deposit. Reservations are first come first serve, so we highly encourage deposits to be paid as quickly as possible.

Final payment is due 30 days prior to attending the performance. Your reservation may be subject to cancellation if payment is not received within this time frame. Deposits will not be returned, but will be included in the final payment.

 

Field Trip Grant for Transportation

Olney Theatre Center is a State-Aided Institution (SAI), which means you can apply for a Field Trip Grant through MSDE to get funding to provide transportation to one of our shows. Learn more.

 

Pre-Show/Post Show Workshops

Olney Theatre Center is now offering pre- and post-show workshops for any school who has registered to attend one of our Student Matinees. These workshops are an opportunity for students to further explore the productions they will see and delve more deeply into its themes. Workshops can be held at your school or in one of our brand new classrooms in the Jim and Carol Trawick Education Center on our campus schedule-permitting. Workshops are only available for scheduling following the payment of your 50% deposit.
