Join Gala Co-Chairs Barry and Marie Fleishman for a landmark evening celebrating a new chapter for Olney Theatre and the career of one of Broadway’s most acclaimed stars: Sutton Foster. From her legendary "understudy-to-superstar" debut in Thoroughly Modern Millie to more recent triumphs in The Music Man and Sweeney Todd, Sutton Foster is a once-in-a-generation talent. Experience this two time Tony Award winner’s concert performance, An Evening with Sutton Foster, in our transformed and intimate Bernard Family Theatre. Additional performances by some of our region’s brightest rising stars will make this year’s Gala a special not-to-be-missed event.

More About the Artist

Ms. Foster is a two-time Tony Award-winning performer, whose career spans Broadway, film, and television. Her rise to stardom is one of the most unique stories in Broadway history. Ms. Foster, who was working as an understudy on the world-premiere production of Thoroughly Modern Millie, was thrust into the leading role at the last minute. Rave reviews of the musical and Ms. Foster’s performance brought the show to Broadway, and she won her first Tony Award. Her performances in beloved works like Anything Goes, The Music Man, Sweeney Todd, and Into the Woods, among many others, have also received wide-spread acclaim. On television, she has starred in Younger, Bunheads, Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life, and The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel. Ms. Foster is one of today’s must-see performers.
