The rain has cleared up, the crew is currently striking the set, and our beloved cast of Singin’ in the Rain have taken their final bows. The impact of this show will continue, though. Throughout the run of Singin’ in the Rain, we partnered with One Warm Coat, a national non-profit organization that provides new or gently used coats to people in need. On average, we collected around 55 coats per week during the run and delivered these coats to Interfaith Works, a local clothing collection center in Rockville, MD. The volunteers at Interfaith works were beyond thrilled to see so many coats each week; so many in fact, that we had to use our  company van to fit them all. Thanks to the generosity of our audiences we were able to donate 434 coats to members of the community.

According to national statistics, 39 million Americans live in poverty and 19 million of these individuals live in deep poverty. Families all over struggle to provide food, shelter, and protection for their loved ones. Through the support and kindness of our patrons, we were able to provide comfort and protection from the cold to people in our community.

Our partnership with One Warm Coat is just the most recent example of how we try to harness the compassion of our audiences to make our community stronger. . In recent years, we’ve partnered with local non profits such as the Maryland Book Bank, Velocity of Books, and Comfort Cases. The success of this coat drive has proven to be a great start for our community outreach programs in the new year.
