In celebration of the hit play Kim’s Convenience, we invite you to join us for Konvenience Festival—an afternoon honoring Korean culture, community, and creativity! We are partnering with the Korean Cultural Center, DC to present this unique event.
From 3 to 7 PM, the space outside the Lab Theatre will come alive with delicious food by KBBQBOX food truck, and interactive cultural demonstrations showcasing both traditional and contemporary Korean experiences.
Then, wrap up the day with a high-energy K-Pop dance party, featuring a DJ Oh.Hi spinning your favorite tracks!
Free and open to all — bring your friends, your curiosity, and your best dance moves. Celebrate the culture that inspired Kim’s Convenience and enjoy an unforgettable evening of community and joy!

Korean Cultural Center DC
The Korean Cultural Center Washington, D.C., a branch of the Embassy of the Republic of Korea, was officially established in October 2010 to introduce Korean culture to American audiences and expand cultural exchange between Korea and the U.S., building strong ties between the two countries in the process.
Through partnerships with key local institutions, including the Smithsonian Institution and the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, the Korean Cultural Center Washington, D.C. also presents a variety of co-hosted events in addition to our own regular film, art, education, and performance programs.

Food Truck: KBBQBOX is marrying Korean and International cooking traditions to bring the DMV residents a whole new type of intensely flavorful fusion food. Packed with bold, savory taste, these unique eats are a foodie experience you’d be remiss to miss. The menu sports an eclectic mix of eats packed with seriously powerful flavors. Crazy scrumptious Takorean series, pork belly, jumbo chicken-wings, grilled Bulgogi platter, and so much more- KBBQBOX has been revered by loyal crowds for its awesomeness!

Washington Samulnori
Washington Samulnori is a Korean traditional percussion group dedicated to performing and preserving “Samulnori,” a genre featuring four percussion instruments: changgo (hourglass drum), buk (barrel drum), jing (large gong), and kkwaenggwari (small gong). Originating from farmers’ band music and ceremonial music, their performances blend folk and religious influences with complex rhythms unique to Samulnori. Founded by Sebastian Wang, a graduate of the Korean National University of Arts and student of Samulnori founder Professor Kim Duk Soo, the group consists of local professional musicians specializing in this traditional art. Their mission is to promote and teach Samulnori, ensuring its continuation and growth in the United States.
DI DIM SAE Korean Traditional Art Institute
The DI DIM SAE Korean Traditional Art Institute is a prominent cultural organization dedicated to preserving and promoting Korean traditional arts in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area. Under the leadership of Director and Dance Master Soo Kyung Jung, the institute offers performances and educational programs that showcase the rich heritage of Korean dance and music. Their repertoire includes traditional drumming as well as classical dances such as Seungmu and Salpuri. The institute is actively involved in the local community, performing at various cultural events and festivals at institutions like the Smithsonian, the Textile Museum, The Kennedy Center, and local schools. They also conduct workshops and training sessions to engage younger generations in Korean traditional arts.

Stepping Stones Drumming Team
First Prize Winners of Charleston International Winter Music Competition 2025 (Drum Ensemble).
Performance by Stepping Stones Drum Team is centered around traditional Korean assorted drums. Drumming has been used in many social classes, ranging from folk music to court music. By educating the next generation about valuable cultural values and establishing it as a venue for presentations that can inherit and develop Korean culture. Korean Culture and Art of Maryland promotes individual artistry and character, and provides opportunities to encounter Korean traditional performing arts to establish an identity for Korean Americans. It is used as a promotional venue to promote pride and promote the excellence of Korean culture to mainstream American society.
Music - Sound of Korea (Great Drum Ensemble)
It is an ensemble of various types of drums and is a work that combines the harmony of various rhythms such as traditional drum melodies that include jajinmori, hwimori, and byeoldalgeogei. The farmers who used to sing and pray for good harvest.
