POSITION: Production Technician

POSITION TYPE: Full-Time

DEPARTMENT: Production

SALARY RANGE: $45,000 per Annum

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Production Technician is a junior staff position in the Production Department. They will be

under the supervision of the Technical Director and Lighting Supervisor. During load In, tech,

preview, and load-out periods, the technician will report to the Lighting Supervisor; outside of

those times, they will report to the Technical Director. The responsibilities of this position include

serving as a shop carpenter and stage electrician for all Olney Productions.

Areas & Responsibilities:

Shop Carpenter

• Work with fellow Scene Shop staff to complete the construction of scenery in a safe

and efficient manner

• Construct scenery as directed by the Technical Direction Team using specified

technical or designer drawings

• Complete projects on schedule with a high level of quality and attention to detail;

• Perform maintenance and modifications of all scenery as directed by their

supervisor;

• Safely operate power tools and manage their maintenance;

• Ensure that the Technical Direction Team is informed at all times of issues relating to

areas of responsibility;

• Keep all areas of work in a clean and safe state at all times, keeping with OTC health

and safety guidelines and all applicable OSHA guidelines;

• Work in support of institutional special events (i.e., Gala, opening nights, educational

programming) as needed;

• Be an active participant in OTC’s work towards equity, diversity, and inclusion and

becoming an anti-racist organization by:

o Participating in all OTC-wide EDI training, workshops, or experiences

o Participating in all EDIA learning or experiences cultivated within the

Production Department

• Other Duties as assigned

Stage Electrician

• Ability to read and interpret a lighting plot.

• Participate in all show load-ins, notes during tech, and load-outs.

• Safely install and focus all lighting equipment as needed.

• Maintain and repair lighting instruments and equipment.

• Assist in the organization and maintenance of workspaces and tools.

• Ability to work as a member of a crew.

• Ability to read and interpret a lighting plot.

Skills and Values Required:

• Physical Requirements: Able to lift 50 lbs. and climb ladders and stairs. Comfortable

with heights.

• Time Requirements: Full-Time Position, with evening and weekend work requirements.

• Prior regional theatre and repertory experience is a plus.

• EITHER two years of carpentry experience OR two years of lighting experience

• The ideal candidate will have experience with contemporary instruments and equipment.

• Lightboard programming knowledge is a plus.

• Excellent communication, organization, collaborative and interpersonal skills.

• Willingness to learn new techniques and methods in the given field.
