Built in 1938 and newly renovated in 2025 from the original Olney Theatre auditorium, this beautiful, versatile, fully flexible performance and event space is the gem of our campus. A unique location for weddings, Bar/Bat Mitzvahs, special events, seated dinners, and community gatherings, the Bernard Theatre is centrally located to complement most other spaces on our campus. Conceived as an adaptable production warehouse infused with memory and character, the space retains its 1930s wood trusses and connection to the outdoors while incorporating a freestanding, woven technical infrastructure. The Bernard Family Theatre can be transformed to fit your event needs and fits more than 600 people standing  (no tables) or 280 with round tables. The Bernard Family Theatre includes a catering kitchen and easy access to the Cafritz Lobby and the Bernard Family Courtyard, which may be rented independently or alongside the Bernard Theatre.

285 standing up— 2,000 square feet 

Situated between the Bernard Family Theatre and the Mulitz-Gudelsky Theatre Lab, the newly constructed Bernard Family Courtyard offers a lovely outdoor setting for receptions, picnics, and other informal or formal gatherings. Beautiful gardens and landscape design create a serene outdoor environment for your special event. It may be rented independently or as part of your use with the Bernard Family Theatre or Cafrtiz Lobby. 

50 standing up— 42 seated reception style— 1,019 square feet

All of our lobby spaces may be rented independently or alongside other venues for special receptions or full events. The Cafritz Lobby offers easy access to the Bernard Family Theatre and Courtyard. It is also home to our Legacy Lounge where you can share with your guests Olney Theatre's unique history and impact on the community. 

300 standing up— 150 seated theatre-style— 250 seated reception style

Olney Theatre’s versatile black-box theatre, this space can seat up to 150 for performances and 250 for seated events with no stage. Built in 2000, this intimate and flexible space is perfect for meetings, receptions, talkbacks, private events, or small-scale performances or workshops. This space may be rented independently or as part of your use with the Mulitz-Gudelsky Theatre Lobby.

All of our lobby spaces may be rented independently or alongside other venues for special receptions or full events. The Mulitz-Gudelsky Theatre Lobby offers easy access to the Mulitz-Gudelsky Theatre Lab, the Bernard Family Courtyard, and the Gana Dunlop Makers' Center. 

600 standing up— 400 seated theatre-style— 230 seated reception style

These outdoor venues, reconstructed in 2022,  provide wonderful opportunities to experience the bucolic, rustic setting at Olney Theatre. The Pavilion and Root Stage can be rented independently or together. Perfect for outdoor weddings or graduation ceremonies, and may be added to rentals of other indoor spaces. For example, you may have your wedding ceremony in the pavilion and reception in the Bernard Theatre. 

92 standing up— 78 seated reception style— 1,377 square feet

Opening in June 2026, the dance studio is a dedicated rehearsal and classroom space excellent for workshops, staged readings, classes, meetings, breakout sessions, and intimate dinners. The studio features hardwood floors suitable for dancing, wall-length mirrors, and full wall windows with natural sunlight and stunning views. An event in this space will feel intimate, elegant, and special. This space is conveniently located near the Cookie and Lindquist Classrooms, which can be rented separately. 

Lindquist Classroom: 29 capacity limit— 563 square feet

Cookie Classroom: 22 capacity limit— 439 square feet

Olney Theatre offers two studios/classrooms for rent. These offer a modern workspace for meetings, small panel discussions, and breakout sessions. The space is versatile and equipped with audiovisual equipment and ample natural light throughout the day. These classrooms are located next to each other and can be rented independently. 

430 seated theatre-style

Built in 2005, Olney Theatre’s 430-seat proscenium-style traditional theatre is perfect for lectures, seminars, graduations, and large-group presentations or ceremonies. Equipped with a mezzanine and a balcony, it has easy access to the Roberts Mainstage Lobby.  Host your event in the same venue as many award-winning theatrical productions!

All of our lobby spaces may be rented independently or alongside other venues for special receptions or full events. The Roberts Mainstage Lobby provides proximity to the Roberts Mainstage, Omi’s Pavilion, and the Root Family Stage. 

110 seated reception style— 2,120 square feet

Built in 2005 and named after beloved actor, director, teacher, and producer, Bill Graham, Sr., Olney Theatre’s first dedicated rehearsal space is a great choice for workshops, presentations, rehearsals, meetings, breakout sessions, and small group gatherings. and intimate dinners or events. It is housed within the Roberts Mainstage, on the top floor, with easy access to the Roberts Mainstage auditorium and lobby.
