December 2014

Dear Friend of Olney Theatre Center,

2014 has been a remarkable year. We brought home our first Helen Hayes Award for Outstanding Resident Musical in twenty-seven years, for 2013’s production of A Chorus Line; we produced the National New Play Network Rolling World Premieres of I And You, which in April received the 2014 Steinberg/ATCA Award, and Colossal, also acknowledged by Steinberg/ATCA; we broke sales records for Avenue Q and Colossal; we were Helen Hayes recommended for nearly all our productions; and this month we mounted an ambitious area-premiere of the Walt Disney spectacular, The Little Mermaid.

Wow. These past twelve months have been incredible. And we want to thank you for your loyal patronage. It is thanks to the enthusiasm of our dedicated audiences that we are able to produce thrilling, magical, and memorable theatrical productions. For more than seventy-six years, Olney Theatre Center has been at the forefront of the performing arts industry in Maryland. But, there is more work to be done and we need your help.

Therefore, we are asking you to consider a gift to support Olney Theatre Center for the Arts. When you give a gift to Olney Theatre you are:

  • Directly helping talented local and regional artists shine right here at home —we give jobs to local artists!
  • Supporting the education and growth of the next generation of theater-makers—we train theatrical leaders!
  • Bettering the aesthetic of our fourteen-acre campus and four theatre complex—Olney’s beautiful cultural space contributes to the vitality of Central Maryland!

Ticket sales cover merely 50% of our overall production and operating expenses. Therefore, we rely heavily on contributed income so that we may continue to produce extraordinary, high-quality theatre for our expanding audiences. Your gift is a profound demonstration of your passion for Olney Theatre Center.

We hope you will choose to make a gift to Olney Theatre Center before year-end. Please click here to make your gift today.
